The Gateway Project has been a great success with the young people of Poynton. The project, aimed at Year 9 high school students, and contributing towards Part 1 of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, met on a weekly basis at the Hockley Centre between October 2007 and February 2008.
On 21 February at a celebration graduation evening to which the parents were invited, guests were shown a video of the young Year 9 delegates enjoying the various different weekly activities which featured sessions with the Police, the Poynton First Responders, the Fire Service, the Message and the Macclesfield Borough Youth Leaders. And each week there was a tasty meal provided by the Churches Together in Poynton!
As part of the Graduation evening, there was also a Youth Project Fair where young people and their parents could see what is on offer for young people in Poynton. Various organisations set up a manned stall and were able to inform youngsters about their various activities.
The next Gateway Project is currently being planned and dates will be be published in due course. Watch for further news!
