Excuse Me - Could We Have a Word?
When Poynton High School’s Head of RE, Rachel Long recently took a look at the Bibles used by RE students at the High School, she found them to be in a sorry state! Torn and missing pages and front covers, most of the Bibles were thoroughly worn out from many years of use in class.
Rachel approached Churches Together in Poynton and asked if the churches would be prepared to fund the cost of obtaining 100 new bibles for the students to use in class. All the churches readily agreed not only to pay for the bibles, but were also able to source them.
Rachel said, “It was not only becoming embarrassing to use the old Bibles in RE classes, but I felt it wasn’t helping the students’ perception of Christianity. Our funds are limited and we are so grateful that the churches have been so generous in helping us out”
Andrew said, “We were all delighted to be able to help the High School in this way. The Word of God still holds great relevance for society today and it is our hope and prayer that the students will be encouraged in their RE studies using these new Bibles.
