Be a S.T.A.R. this Year

At this time, many of us make New Year resolutions, but within weeks (or days!) we’ve given up! Maybe that’s because we try and do these things in our own strength. My view is simple – if God exists (and He does), and He has anything to do with my existence (He does), then surely how I live must be guided by Him. In fact, the Bible says we are to look forward to the good things God has for us (1 Corinthians 2:9)
So how about being a STAR this New Year by doing things God’s way? The Bible gives us a rich vein of instruction. For example, we’re told to Stop making excuses for ourselves and to take some personal responsibility. Ignore the blame culture that is all too prevalent, and plan ahead.
In doing so, we also Take stock of our situation, take good advice, and draw upon the lessons we’ve learned from the past. We’ve all made mistakes. We’ve had bad times and good times, but experiences shape our lives and highlight our strengths and weaknesses, as well as showing us who our friends really are.
Then we must Act on God’s plans and purposes for us, not just talk about change. Activate our plans, aim for the highest and see what happens in God. And think positive – the Bible teaches that our lives are influenced by our thoughts. (Proverbs 23:7)
